Managing Your BusinessNow you're in business! As a business owner, you wear many hats. Do you need all of them? Do you spend most of your time working in your business instead of on it? A successful business requires three skills: technical, accounting and marketing, which is called the trilogy of managment. Additionally, managing your business includes marketing, pricing, filing your business taxes, legal considerations, forecasting for future growth and financing options. Ask yourself which skills you possess and who can help you with the other(s). Do you have the leadership traits, decision-making skills and know-how to manage your employees? It's a lot to think about! The southwest Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) will walk you through these steps and keep you on the road to success. The Small Business Management Program offered through Ridgewater College and Minnesota West Community & Technical College is designed to assist entrepreneurs in achieving their goals through improved management, organization and operation of their businesses. These classes also help develop decision-making skills and processes while providing entrepreneurs knowledge of economic principles. |
